Story
Danish furniture designer Arne Hovmand-Olsen was born in Kirkeby Sogn in 1919. In his youth, Hovmand-Olsen showed great talent for drawing and design and began an apprenticeship as a cabinetmaker with Peder Olsen Sibast in 1938. He enrolled at a technical college in Aarhus in 1941, specializing in furniture design. After graduating, he opened his own furniture studio and created designs in the modern Scandinavian style. Hovmand-Olsen's designs include seating, tables, and secretaries, all characterized by a simple form with clean lines, organic curves, and tapered legs. He loved Beautifully grained woods such as teak and rosewood.
