Story

-        This exceptional wall lamp originates from the United States and was manufactured between the late 1950s and early 1960s. Its cylindrical shade, made of chrome-plated metal with a fine walnut veneer, combines functional clarity with warm, atmospheric light – a typical characteristic of post-war American modernism.

-       The lamp is designed for wall mounting and rests on a solid walnut wood base, emphasizing its architectural character. The shade is painted white on the inside and fitted with an original Leviton Bakelite socket ( Made in USA ) – a mark of quality that underscores the meticulous craftsmanship of the era. The chrome-plated, solid ball joint allows for precise light adjustment and demonstrates technical sophistication and durability.

-       The electrical system has been partially renewed; the lamp is in a completely restored condition, fully preserving its original effect and warm light character. It originated in an American household and was later brought to Europe, where it was a well-maintained part of the decor for decades.

A notice:
Wooden cylinder lamps of this type are occasionally attributed to George Nelson or George Kovacs in the trade. Despite thorough research, however, no definitive manufacturer or designer could be identified for this particular piece – which makes the unique character and charm of this American Modernist lamp all the more fascinating.
