Story
A monolith of light and color – powerful, clear and at the same time surprisingly poetic.
This Sommerso vase by Alessandro Mandruzzato, created on Murano in the 1970s, combines architectural rigor with a sensual interplay of colors. Within a solid, precisely cut block of glass, a deep cobalt blue appears to float serenely, gently accompanied by warm, golden-yellow gradients. The colors are not simply juxtaposed – they optically interpenetrate each other, revealing a new depth with every shift in perspective.
The carefully faceted edges capture the light and make the glass appear alive, almost as if it were breathing from within. Depending on the time of day, the mood changes – sometimes cool and graphic, sometimes warm and luminous.
Whether displayed alone or with a few carefully chosen branches, this vase doesn't make a loud statement, but rather asserts itself with quiet self-assurance. A distinctive collector's item of Venetian glass art in very good vintage condition with minimal, age-related marks on the base.
