Story
Canadian Maurice Prentice Burke (1921–2013) designed numerous seating and tables for the company Arkana, many of which were made of plastic such as polystyrene. Other products, such as sideboards , tables, and armchairs, incorporated wood (e.g., walnut or rosewood) and aluminum . Seating furniture from Arkana in the Tulip style was used as props in episodes of the television series Star Trek. Production at Arkana ceased in the late 1970s. Arkana furniture is now highly valued by collectors.
